Why not check out the area while you’re here?

We’re thrilled to welcome buyers to The Catskills the weekend of May 18-19 to take advantage of our Spring Open Houses Tour, and want to share a handful of terrific spots to eat, shop and stay along the way, so you can make the most of your visit.

There are SO many noteworthy businesses that we encourage you to explore our towns and discover the special nooks and crannies. But here are some great places to start:

Callicoon + Narrowsburg Area

Several properties are within 15 minutes of one another, so if you’ll be visiting Bully Hill Modern (North Branch), Bluestone Barn (Callicoon/Fremont), Callicoon Center and Henderson House (Hankins), they are all handy to Callicoon, which has multiple food options, from a quick coffee or grab-and-go (or stay)  at the Kitchen Table Café; a more robust meal at Creek House Grill, or if you have time to linger and especially if the weather is nice, grab a café table outside Callicoon Wine Merchant for a glass of vino and tasty small plates. You’ll have to stop in Spruce Home Goods across the way to pick up a tasteful memento of your visit. And if you’d like to hang your hat there for an overnight or longer, check out 9 River Road for uber-convenient lodging walking distance to town, right on the Delaware River. And speaking of walking home, no better place for tasty cocktails and nibbles in a delicious setting than Black Walnut.

Just a few miles outside of Callicoon is the picturesque little hamlet of North Branch, which is centrally-located for visiting several of our properties, so you might go all-in and stay at the North Branch Inn for the weekend. With a popular restaurant on the premises, you can’t go wrong. And just around the corner is the North Branch Cider Mill, where cider is just the beginning of their artfully presented array of local food, kitchenware and gifts.

The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway leads you, most happily, between Callicoon and Narrowsburg, another delightful riverfront town where you can grab a wonderful lunch/brunch at The Heron or a tasty bite to go from the Tusten Cup. We have a detailed rundown of the not-to-be-missed spots in our Guide to the Best of Narrowsburg.

Jeffersonville to Bethel

Heading in the Bethel direction to visit Perry Pines A Frame, you might find yourself going through or near Jeffersonville, and we would always suggest popping into the Jeffersonville Bake Shop for their goodies. Also on Main St., Sullivan Sundries includes several top notch shops worthy of your time, including R52 Home, a home and vintage store that will make you want a house to put all Randy’s merchandise in. Bloom Coffee will keep you revved up for the next tour, and their specialty grocery and cheese offerings are sure to tempt. I go out of my way to stop into Bethel Market. Sometimes for their outrageous reuben and other times for their confections. Kenoza Hall, with its relaxing spa services, could be just the ticket for a luxurious basecamp for your weekend north.

Roscoe to Hancock

Looking to visit the Beaverkill Farmhouse and then head up to Hidden Hollow? Swing by Roscoe on your way. The Catskills Coffee Lodge has you covered from breakfast sandwich to Chicken, Bacon, Ranch Wraps. If dinner is on your radar, The Junction serves up great food, has a lively bar and is favored by locals and weekenders alike. The Yarra gets a big thumbs up for both its outstanding dining (dinner only) and stylish lodging. Just behind the main drag you can grab lunch at Do Good Spirits and pop into The Hound Books to pick up some summer reading. And of course there is the iconic Roscoe Diner, and pro tip: The ice cream vendor in the parking lot is a winner.
